Senior Scientist, Target ID, Immunology Cell Therapy Discovery

We areseekinga dedicated, hands-onScientist orSenior Scientist to join our Immunology Cell Therapy Discovery team. The role centers onnovel target identification and validationfor cell therapy discovery initiatives, underpinned by an in-depth understandingof cellular and molecular immunology, pathologyofinflammation and immune disordersand/orexpertisein CAR-T engineering.
Accountabilities
Expert knowledge:Demonstratea comprehensive understanding ofimmunopathology at the cellular and molecular levels; multi-omics and bioinformatic data analysis; the landscape of known drug targets and therapeutics across modalities in clinical use; emerging targets with investigational therapeuticsin the field; and the unmet medical needs in inflammatory and immune disorders.
Collaborative innovation: Partner with cross-functional teams toinitiateand drive discovery efforts focused on immune disorders, enhancing AstraZeneca’s portfolio andultimately improvingpatient outcomes.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to the development and delivery of medicines.
Research Process Development:Initiatecell therapyresearch—guided by curiosity, hypothesis, and data—to assess andvalidatenovel targets, strategies, and approaches,enablingrobust decision-making.
Essential Skills/Experience
Advanced Degree: Masters with 5+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 0-3 years of relevant experience in Immunology,virology, innate and adaptive immune response,molecular orcellbiology,bioengineering, or a related field preferred.
Technical Expertise:Demonstrated proficiency in T- and B-cell culture and functional assays; multicolor flow cytometry (analysis and sorting); bioinformatics; in vivo disease models; lentiviral, retroviral, or AAV vector design and engineering; CRISPR and other genome-editing technologies; nonviral gene-delivery methods; in vitro assay development; and cell-therapy research process development.
Scientific Expertise: Deep understanding ofmolecular immunology,diseasebiologyand clinical landscape of immunological diseases.
Collaborative Skills: Excellent collaboration and communication capabilities,proven effectiveness working across functions and organizational levels.
Desirable Experience
Publication Record/ patent:Track recordof peer-reviewed publications inprestigiousimmunologicaljournals and/or patents.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $116,284.00 - $174,426.00. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coveragein accordance withthe terms of the applicable plans.
